Take A Bite Out of Hunger proved to be a huge success again in 2010. Last year, the Riverside County’s Board of Supervisors with the Economic Development Agency and Stater Bros. Supermarkets raised over $166,000 and 34,000 pounds of food which was dispersed to pantries and food banks throughout the county. We extend great thanks to all those who generously gave!
Our campaign is back for the fourth year, and we’re making it a goal to go above and beyond last year’s numbers! The campaign to fight hunger in our region is just as crucial as ever with 16% of Riverside County’s population living in poverty and nearly 58% of school-aged needy children in the County participate in the National School Lunch Program, which provides them with a free or reduced-price lunch. Instead of going out for the lunch hour, pack a meal for just one day, and put your cash towards a donation to provide nourishment to families in need. There are plenty of ways to get involved with Take A Bite Out of Hunger. Nov 1 – December 31, stop by any Stater Bros. Supermarket or one of the county facilities listed on the drop off locations page within Riverside County to drop off your donation of non-perishable canned food items. Monetary donations can be given through the Take A Bite Out of Hunger website donation page.
Any assistance you can provide, small or great, will make an impact towards our efforts to eliminate hunger in Riverside County.
