Think About This
The holiday season is here and hunger is on the rise. Many of our moms, dads, grandparents, friends and neighbors have lost their jobs and times are tough even for those who are fortunate enough to be employed.
The 2009 Riverside County Food Drive – Take a Bite Out of Hunger is going on now through December 31st. For every $5 donated our partnering food banks can generate $125 worth of food. That is amazing. Can you afford to give up the latte you purchase in the morning or the hamburger you eat at lunch? If half of the residents in Riverside County donate $1 this holiday season think of the impact this would make – over $500,000 to feed the hungry.
Thanks to the generosity of people like you, last year’s holiday food drive was a success. It raised nearly $6,000 in donations online and generated more than $144,500 worth of food for our County food pantries. During the food drive, 228 barrels of food were donated at Stater Bros. Supermarkets throughout the County.
The Riverside County Board of Supervisors, in partnership with Stater Bros. Supermarkets, Salvation Army, FIND and Second Harvest Food Banks have committed to Take a Bite Out of Hunger.
Give the best gift of all and help stop hunger. Please join us as we come together and continue to fight hunger in Riverside County.
Thank you for your support of the Riverside County Food Drive! With your help over $140,000 will benefit Riverside County food pantries. The Riverside County Board of Supervisors, the Economic Development Agency and Stater Bros. Supermarkets partnered to spearhead the second annual Riverside County Food Drive - Take A Bite Out Of Hunger. The food drive campaign ran from November 2009 through December 31, 2009. Food was collected in bins placed in forty-six Stater Bros. supermarkets throughout Riverside County. F.I.N.D. Food Bank, serving the Coachella Valley, and Salvation Army, serving the western county, distributed the donated items to Riverside County residents in need.
Thank you once again for your generous support!
